After a long hiatus, I’m excited to start writing on here again and breathe life back into this blog.
Since initially launching this site, life has been a bit crazy. Admittedly, I shouldn’t have started Eat Up Shape Up when I did. I wasn’t in quite the right place – though I thought I was.
But now, more than ever, I am.
I’ve had enough time to recuperate from mentally and emotionally taxing graduate school. I’m not struggling financially. I have an enjoyable, independent career that offers flexibility and balance. All of these things enable me to focus on my health, my passions, this blog.
I’m feeling better now than I have in many years. As I’ve mentioned before, I was an active person my entire life, but hit a slump after college. For me, desk job + grad school = no bueno. I was always tired. Always stressed. I started gaining weight while losing any and all desire to pursue passions and hobbies. The less active I was, the less motivated I became, the more weight I gained.
I was in a rut. And as I’m sure many of you know, it’s damn hard to pull yourself out of it! But here I am – I did it. Not without many challenges and setbacks. And not without support. And now I’m on a roll!
I’d like to share some of those experiences with you on this blog. It’s important to have a community of like-minded people to share your struggles and achievements with. That’s part of what I envision for Eat Up, Shape Up.
There are other ways I’d like to use this platform as well. I’d like to share meal ideas and recipes, workouts, fitness and health tips, and sometimes some good old motivation and inspiration! Much of this will come from my experiences “in the trenches;” other times I’ll share knowledge learned elsewhere – from books, articles, blogs, friends and family.
I’m excited to kick things off today with this “I’m still alive!” post. I have so many ideas I can’t wait to share in coming months. Please comment with any topics you’d like me to cover, or just to say hello!
